Keywords are the bridge between what your customers search for and what your website offers. Here is a practical method using free tools.
1. List your core topics
Start with your main services or product categories, and next to each one write how customers describe it — not how you describe it.
2. Use Google’s suggestions
Type each topic into Google and note the autocomplete suggestions, the “People also ask” box and the related searches at the bottom of the page.
3. Check search volume
Use Keyword Planner in Google Ads (free with an account) to see average monthly searches in your country and discover similar keywords.
4. Identify search intent
Does the searcher want to learn, compare or buy? Search the keyword yourself and look at the type of pages that rank — articles or product pages.
5. Use Search Console
In the Performance report you’ll find queries your site already ranks for in positions 8 to 20 — these are your fastest opportunities for improvement.
6. Map keywords to pages
Group similar keywords into clusters and assign each cluster to one page, so your pages don’t compete with each other.
